looking for work, from a political standpoint it's good news for the obama generation. with unemployment insurance set to expire, the white house is stuck in an ironic situation. they are arguing for an extension. if growth is improved, it was announced thursday and friday down to 7% unemployment, the lowest in five years. the administration says that unemployment insurance has got to be extended. white house spokesman jay carney made the case on friday afternoon. >> the news we have today eenforces that we need to address the problem and extend unemployment insurance benefits to those individuals. this is a persistent problem. it would be terrible to do that to more than a million families across the country a few days after christmas, that they are out of benefits. we hope congress will, as it has in the past, addressed the challenge. an interesting thing about the economic numbers, is they haven't improved the unemployment rate - it went down despite the gridlock in washington and the political head wind. you have to wonder how good the growth would be without the head wind or the gov

more good political news. what political news do we have? interesting. 2012 election, perfectly clear there were differences between barack obama and his opponents on the issues of guns. he won. virginia election, even more important because a border state, 2013, governors election, very different, debated some, terry mcauliffe very clear on where he was on gun safety. he won. on the other hand, earlier in 2013 -- >> colorado. >> the rico elections in colorado. >> which is more representative. i think virginia says a little bit more. but i wanted to talk about this bill and how even in the history that you showed, we have a history as a country to only react to massive tragedies, like that's our reason to pass any kind of gun legislation. when really, like, the day to day violence in our country is what stands out from the rest of the world. and actually as i'm sure everyone here knows, suicides outnumber gun violence homicides in this country by kind of a lot. there is a cdc report just last month that showed in the 50 most populous cities in the country, suicides outnumber homicides
